The short version
Some links on the resources page, and links in the book that go through elv.im/go/, are affiliate links. If you buy through one, I may receive a commission. It costs you nothing extra.
Why the links go through /go/
Links such as elv.im/go/hosting redirect to the tool I currently suggest. When a tool changes, stops being good value or ends its programme, I change the redirect. The book stays correct without a new edition, and you always reach a current recommendation.
How tools are chosen
Affiliate status does not decide whether a tool is listed. The same standard applies as in the book: what the tool is for, what it really costs including your time, how it handles permissions and data, and how easy it is to leave.
Some listed tools pay no commission at all. Free tools that do the job, such as Google Search Console, are listed first where they fit.
How affiliate links are marked
Links that may pay a commission use a /go/ address and carry rel="sponsored", so search engines treat them as paid links.
The book itself
There is no paid placement in the book. No company has paid to be mentioned or reviewed.
