Who is responsible
This site and the book are run by Elvis Meisters, based in Latvia. For any privacy question, email hello@elv.im.
What this site collects
This site does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not ask you to create an account.
The web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, to keep the site running and secure. They are kept for a limited period and are not used to profile visitors.
Fonts and images are served from this site. No third-party content loads while you browse, except on the buy page, where Paddle's checkout script runs.
Videos
Journal videos are hosted on YouTube. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press play. When you do, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and Google's privacy policy applies to that playback.
When you buy
Purchases are processed by Paddle as reseller and merchant of record. They collect your name, email address, billing country and payment details to take payment, calculate tax and prevent fraud. Paddle's privacy policy applies to that processing.
After payment, this site receives your name, email address, the order amount and whether you ticked the optional updates box. It uses them to email your personal download link, to count downloads on that link (with the IP address of each download, to stop link sharing), and to support your purchase. Order records are kept for as long as accounting rules require.
Your copy of the files is personalised: your name (or, if Paddle has no name for you, a partly hidden email address) and an order code are printed in it, and a copy code is embedded in it, so that a copy shared online can be traced to the order it came from. Your full email address is not put in the files.
If you ticked the box for updates, your email address and the time you agreed are stored so I can tell you about new editions and books. Every such email has a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask me to remove you at any time.
I receive your name, email address, country and order details so I can support your purchase and tell you about corrected files for the edition you bought.
When you email
If you write to me, I keep your message and address for as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
Affiliate links
When you follow a link through /go/ on this site, you are redirected to another company's site. That company may set its own cookies to record the referral. Its privacy policy applies from that point.
Legal basis
Order and support data is processed to perform the contract with you. Server logs and fraud prevention rely on legitimate interest. Anything else would need your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, or ask for it to be transferred. You can also complain to the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija) or your local supervisory authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date.
